It was a freezing day, but the team was feeling confident after our win last week.
We matched up well and were very competitive in the first quarter, but running against the wind in the second quarter we found it tough to win clean possession, and couldn't get any points on the board. The Hawks took advantage of good field position and they started to pull away as we missed our marks and break-out opportunities.
During the third quarter we showed determination and strung some good passages of play together, but Baulko hit right back, matching each of our scoring shots and adding more. We were just not able to keep up with the fast movement of play, and our indecisiveness and poor handballing let us down.
The coaching staff were proud of the team's never-say-die attitude though. Keep your heads up, Goannas, and let's get back in the game next week against Emu Plains!
Thank you to Darren for doing a great job on goals, Mark for running the water and encouraging the players, and Tania, Sharon and Greg in the canteen and on the BBQ. Thanks also to Michael for timekeeping, and Kyle for keeping score.
