FIXTURE: April 24 at Benson's Lane 3
SCORES: Holroyd Parramatta Goannas 6.9-45 d Hawksbury Saints 6.2-38
LADDER (7 teams): 1st
Round 3 and it was our third away game for the season! It was a lovely morning (though maybe a bit too early) to travel out to Bensons Lane, Richmond to take on the Hawkesbury Saints.
We didn't know what to expect from the Saints this season as our only game against them last year was declared a washout.
A couple of injuries and illnesses saw 17 players take the field. Once again the boys started off strongly. The highlights of the 1st two quarters was some good team play by Max M, Luke and Damian which landed in goals then the great tackles by Blake.
Unfortunately Robbie had to sit a couple of quarters out with an injury but rallied in the last quarter when the Saints were threatening our winning streak.
The last two quarters were totally different to the first two. The team lost their way, found themselves out of position many times, felt the pressure and the Saints capitalised on every mistake.
Unfortunately our kicking game was below average today, however a late goal in the final quarter from Peitok sealed a narrow win for the boys.
Thank you to our parent helpers: Spud and Jack (runners), Mark and Julian (water), George (boundary) and Max (flags) and not forgetting our coach, Alessio.
Go Goannas!
