It was a beautiful Autumn day for our home game against the Camden Blues. The smoke haze that had been around the area for days had lifted.

Congratulations to Billy who racked up his 50th game for the Goannas today (see photo, below). Well done Billy, you've been a great player for the team since you joined a few years ago!

The game was very tough for the boys today as Camden pressured all four quarters and it felt like a summer's day out there for them - the heat was felt on and off the field.

Our marking was not the best again and there were a lot of penalties given against us for silly errors, including some 50m penalties. Also our 'marking up' was below average. These will have to be discussed at training.

The best moment for me today was when Josh kicked a goal right in front and only a couple of metres from the goal after a mistake from Camden. It came just at the right time as Camden was getting the better of us (3rd quarter).

Throughout the game there were some big kicks that got us out of trouble and the goals scored were from all good passages of play. The boys never gave up and I asked them to give 150% in the last quarter; I knew they were hot and tired (so was I) but we had to keep an enthusiastic and hopeful Camden team from overpowering us – and our Goanna boys did this.

Thank you to our helpers: Mel, Rozi and Gemma in the canteen, Rolf who had a late call up to help on the BBQ, Greg our U15s coach for doing the flags, George for boundary, Mick and Jack for water and Mark for running.

If anyone else in the team would like to help out doing some of the field duties please come and see me. Although the above people love doing their jobs, sometimes they may want a break. Every week we need five or six people to help out on the ground.

Lastly, it was great to see two of our injured boys, Christian and Matt, come and support the team. Thanks boys, it was much appreciated!!
